Hey Guys...

Is no one fishing this year (or is everyone so busy fishing that no one has time to post  Grin)?  In any case - good job on the forumm, hopefully this season will see us all catching some nice fish! Last week we caught an 8 Kilo Albacore which was nice - considering we usually bottom fish.

2 questions - if anyone has a 16foot open for sale - please let me know...and secondly we are thinking of going out this friday evening near ghar dhalam for some bottom fishing - any ideas on bait, depths and what we can expect to catch (probably set off around 18:00 and if the fish is good won't get back in until 23:00)

I think you mean the Ghar Hasan area! you can do with some sargi in that area. If you keep close to cliff depths vary from 10mtrs - 15mtrs, but from tal-mara area up to wied iz zurrieq you can drop in 50mtrs depths once you area just 100mtrs out of cliffs.

good luck mate.

Hey Placebo -

Thanks for the information - the weather is looking great for tomorrow evenenings outing...and sorry about my mistake - I am not always that great with the Maltese names...

By the way - you think I should go with Hnix (and I am SURE that is a spelling mistake ta L'imperial or Korea?

Thanks again

Well - hopefully we will be out near the Ghar Hassan tomorrow evening - since I have never rigged for deeper depths - anyone have some tips?? We will probably be fishing from 18:00 until 22:00...

hi I was diving there yesterday and it is full of barracudas about 2 ft long they are hanging around 20mt deep
i would recomend on using cuttle fish or squid as bait as most fish will take them
between 15-30 mt there are some nice sargi around 1kg size they are hiding in the rocks  some cippulazz and loads of parrot fish
if you are anchoring i would suggest trying to catch a vopa or two and setting it down to 15-20 mts for the barracudas and if you cut up pieces of fish and throw them in slowly you might attract a few big congers out to feed.
