Shore fishing in early May?

We are coming over for a wedding on 1st May 2011, we arrive very early on Sunday morning & the wedding is on Tuesday, which means I should be able to sneak a session in on either the Sunday or Monday (or both) & from Wednesday onwards the world is my oyster!
So lads what is the fishing like in early May from the shore (the same as the rest of the year probably) little mullet, little breams, & little wrasse. We are staying at the
"Sea Breeze" in Birzebuggia so I wont be far from the water, (nor my little spot beyond the Freeport). Does anybody have a "secret spot" around Birze where I can safely take my grandson to catch a few fish?
