Boneshaker - your best bet is to join us on the 18 june for the BBQ....then you can discuss at length various techniques. Still keep up with the posts here, you'll always find someone willing to share their knowledge and experience.

filodu tista tmur imma nahseb bil lejl l aqwa ghal xi huta tad daqs, zijuwi kien jahlef b din s sajda imma llum mejjet u ma tantx issibha llum..... ghawdex popolari pero
hawn min jgharqu l bezzun u hawn min le
l iskop kienu jghidlulek li jahsbu xi sicca pero jien bhala sajda saret difficli filodu ghax normalment twahhal iktar minn wiehed u din sajda kemmxejn antika perez li x xlief irid ikun diameters rqaq llum ha titlef xi hut,, ftakar llum l hut jaf x inhu xlief u sunnara
bil lejl differenti, tista tistad mitluq bill thallih jitlaq mar rih, r rih irid ikun minn warajk taf tinzerta xi kaplat jew iktar furtuna xi naqa kahli sabih. darba kellna missa sabiha ferm ma zijuwi, spiccajna bil qasba l bahar ifem... probabli kienet xi serra minn sant anglu dan
biex tipprova din s sajda facilment fejn l vapur t ghawdex jekk ihalluk bomba, titfax bezzun wiehed biss imma ghax jinduna..... qatt m ghamilta immma darba rajt ingliz jistad minn fuq l vapur t ghawdex hekk u tella kaplat sabih kien.....

I'll bezzun irrid ikun iebes. Hallieh jumejn fix xemx. Kull ma taghmel hu li ddawwar is snanar mal bezzun, bil ponot il gewwa. B'hekk jintrabat mas snanar. Tmurx tistad bezzun wiehed, ahseb ghal hafna sajdiet.

dik tghodd ghal fejn l vapur t ghawdex biss........ il bezzun hawn min inixxfu hafna pero l ghawdxin, li dis sajda jafuwha sewwa hafna jippreferu jnixxfuh bla xemx u mux kompletament, halli ma jitfarrakx.
bix tarma ghalih trid torbon fuq medda ta xlief hafna snanar zghar vicin xulxin (bejn 8 u 15)
bazikament dawru mal bezzun u naqa elastic line jaf jghin. l iskop hu li jekk titla xi huta tithabbel fis snanar meta ggib. ghamel l spare ghax jitghaqqad mux hazin
bzienen irid ikollok mux hazin, hawn min ikollu xkejjer u hawn min ikollu erba biss... imma l element taghha huwa r rih minn warajk.... tista tqabbad ballun mill bojod jekk trid, anzi jkun ahjar halli ma tkissrux l bezzun(speci ta float). rid taghmlu xi 4 metri l fuq mill bezzun.
jien qed nghidlek mill ftit li naf ghax dis sajda verament ma tantx nafa u li qed nghidlek hu meta kont mmur maz ziju.....
filodu dejjem ahjar minn filghaxija sakemm mux ha tistad mal lejl, li tista tinzerta xi huta mdaqqsa

I used to fish with this technique a lot for a whole summer. I started to get some consistent results with this setup.
2 mtrs of thin line (.20). At one end 10 hooks (size 10 i think) less than 2 cm apart. At the other end a white float (those that you half-fill with water to cast further away) and then .30 line in the reel.
As for bait I found the best to be sliced bread (tal-kexxun).Cut it in 4 or 6 parts, put the hook in the crust and leave the tip in the soft part. this will become really fluffy in the water and ensure that the mullett will end up with a hook in his mouth when he sucks on the bread. The bread has to be a bit dry but not crunchy (say left for a day in the breadbin). i have fished medium sized mullett and xilep with this setup. the wind blowing in your back is a must and if the water is muddy after bad weather its good as well.

I used to fish with this technique about 4 years ago when i was still 12 years old. I used to catch many good sized mulett, shilep and also kahli with this technique. also when there used to be some choppy waves i used to insert a 15g running weight in the line befor the swivel so the bezzun was sort of anchored to the bottom. Once i also caught a 2kg strilja from whiterocks in bahar ic caq using this method.
For you friends who maybe dont know what this kind of fishing is called:
They call it the "Halliela" because you are actually stealing the fish.
also guys if you wanna give it a try by fishing the way i used to fis try using trebble hooks instead of normal hooks. I used to have 6 trebble hooks running on 1.5 0.25mm mono and i used to position the trebbles around the bezzun or even pannini some times. Remember always remuve the crust from the bezzun when it is dry. It is easily shaved off with a knife.
Goodluck boneshaker in this new fishing you are gonna try out. A very good place is surely birzebbugia. But i also found it great in xemxija, gzira, taxbiex and also pieta.

nice presentation by Bigboy! yes indeed i'm from Bugia and sure it is a good place here - although it was so much better....
in summer it is much better than winter as for some reason in winter mullet does not like surface baits!
also MXlokk is a good place - maghluq facing dellimara power station.
