As simon said it all comes with experience. Although a reel might seem to be a simple accessory, if not used properly it can even be dangerous. If the drag is set to such a high level that the line doesn't come out, one will end up loosing his equipment as said above. On the other hand, if the drag is too light, then, as soon as the injured fish gives its first burst of speed, it will jerk the reel making the spool revolve faster for a short period of time. This will cause the revolving axis to draw back into the reel any slack line, resulting in entanglement and blocking the reel.

By the fishfarm mate. About 6nm out of M'scala. Not difficult to find at all.

Normallly there one can find tuna and ajs but these fish atract the preditors so no surprice for a shark

its no the first time that the guys from the pens told us to be careful as we had company. I presume that they were either referring to sharks.... or to an obese tuna.....
both can be dangerous....

Hi guys you are all right, but you have to be in the same situation to know exactly how it happened.
And by the way robert, we never met each other yet..... but many times I am impressed with the detail and precision, you write. I can remember the first times I wrote in this forum, whereby you were telling someone how to modify a gun, and the detail you explained, mentioning different parts of the gun, I did not even know that they are called as such. I admit that sometimes you made me smile, and say 'what d hell is he speaking about', but yep, that's why I like this forum. Some of us are detailed in other issues, and when combined alltogether, we can be a good team...........

Hi baghira - I just started diving more regularly again - still having problems compensating but I'm getting better - at least I can dive now. Hehe I know what you mean but when I write I try to make myself as clear as possible...maybe sometimes ending up rendering things a bit more complicated

At the moment I'm pretty tight with not much freetime left on my hands - but I'm planning a dive on Sat or Sun - if you want to meet up just pm me!

hello fellows spearos. I just came across this site and I wished I did some preliminary scouting....Anyways I will be in your country tomorrow and will stay until the 13th (unfortunately too short). I would love to hook up with some of you that spearfish in order to go out for some fun. I met one of you that perhaps is on this forum (cannot find his info any longer) that was the team capt at the 98 world cup of freediving (I was the ca for the US team). As regards you robert. I would be glad to meet you my friend, but unfortunately not so soon, since I am going diving to the red sea next week, and for this reason I have some work to finish before I leave. I am also taking very good care, not to get any injury before I leave.
I spoke about you with emic and simon, and they all said good words about you, and told me that you are studying hard (law if I remember well).

Baghira, peppo doesn't have Internet access at the moment. I spoke with him this evening, very nice guy and I am organising a dinner with him Wednesday evening. Was thinking of some of your spearos who might want to meet with him and chat, if you're interested to come along. He's based in Mellieha so will be somewhere in that area.

SimonG and Emic were going to try and take him out spearfishing tomorrow.

Baghira, you'll surely enjoy the red sea much more than you would enjoy a dive with me! Scuba or freediving? I want to go there one day just to dive with sharks. Make sure you take an UW camera with you and keep us posted!
