living in St.Pauls Bay I am retired and have fished a lot for salmon and steelhead trout and have caught a Striped bass of 12 kilos ( 25lbs) in Oregon,USA where I used to live and have just returned from there after a holday if anyone ever needs a fishing partner I can pay my share

Hi all

My name is Rab which is short for Robert in Scotland. I am from Edinburgh and I will be visiting Malta for a month this year from 20th of August to the 20th of September. I am staying in a villa in Mellieha and would welcome any tips and advice you can give me on the fishing around Malta's coast. I will be hiring a car when I get there so I can go anywhere on the Island.

I normally fly fish for trout and pike in the Lochs and have done a bit of salmon fishing. During June and July I have about 4 or 5 sea fishing trips catching cod and mackerel. If you copy this link into your browser can get info on my local water which is run as a syndicate. http://www.portmore.co.uk You can fish it 8 months of the year anytime you want which is handy.

Anyway I hope some of you local guys can give me some advice on where to go and what to use. Also do you think it would be worthwhile if I brought my fly rod and gear with me or will I be better off with my spinning rod.
