Description: Handle I assembled today for my new project.  A light seawater spinning rod, that is rated 8-12lb & 1/4to 3/4oz casting.  Should be fun for lampuki this year  ;D

No Jean, you're not being a fart, i cannot smell it from here anyway.  Those handles evolved through the Japanese's fixation with keeping everything light.  The split grip style gives it a much more pleasing look, in my opinion. You basically only use grips where the hands will be placed.  Some of their rods don't even use a foregrip above the reel seat.

EVA foam is a little easier to work with, and will last longer on a spinning rod, than a cork grip.  Of course cork, especially high quality portughese (€€€€€) adds a touch class to a rod, but in my opinion EVA is better suited for seawater.

The rod is nearly ready, I haven't weighed it yet, but I don't think it will be much heavier than 200g.

Hey clutch_kick, sorry if I'm going to be a bit of a fart but wanted to see whether i get this one right. The advantage of such a handle is lightness, practicality, and strength over the normal cork grips?

I mean it looks super-sturdy and noticed that some shimano spinning rods on the high-end of the line are almost all set up in such a manner.

Nice dude! especially the rod seat :) & at a 8-12lb rating, it will surely be FUN alright on the puki..and HOW!!!  ;D
Also like i said in your thread, personally i think EVA on a split grip is way more asthetically pleasing than cork..more practical too! ;D Well done! Can't wait to see the finished product!
