Title: Catching Seabass (spnott)
Post by: ciappie on June 21, 2006, 21:56:59 CET
I am new to this forum and not very old with fishing :)

I would like to know whether it is possible to fish for seabass from shore using lures? Anybody had luck with this?

Thanks

hi Ciappie
i go spinning for sea bass quite often it is quite easy when the conditions are right
i normally go at night in st pauls bay (under veccja) and look for the bass or bait fish under boats or close to shore
i look out for splashes or swirls at the surface or for concentrated bait fish
then try matching the bait to your lure
a very good place is mellieha on the sand for both bass and cuda
good luck

Thanks Simon for your help.

I'll let you know the outcome when I try it out. I think I'll try Rapala floating lures to start of cos I found very good reviews on them.

Am currently out of the island but will return next month.

Was searching the net and found this forum and started dreaming again to go for spnott (bass).

I have gone a couple of time with squid on a running float but never had much luck except for a couple of bites.

Keep it up...I was really happy to find this forum.

One of the best winds for sea bass is North East force 4-5 the rougher the better they tend to hang around the shore waiting to pounce on small fish
