Title: how to use garfish as live bait?
Post by: placebo on October 06, 2008, 23:25:15 CET
to be honest i never tried garfish as live bait in my life when fishing from shores!
it looks a very good idea but i always wondered and thought that garfish is too long to put on a single hook!

Any suggestions and anyone have ever tried it succesfully?

I was thinking using a circle hook and putting the hook just in some place on the gafish's back????  ::)

I think that should work man. I usually hook it he way we troll with lacci. Pilot in its mouth and circle hook at the back

I have had Dorado and GIANT garfish - enough to feed 4 people - on live 20 -30 cm garfish freelined hooked behind the fin on the back and let run free. They will go 200m and further if picked up by dorado and other game fish!!!
