Joe's post regarding the Gaffer got me thinking about antifouling as i am in the process of choosing an antifouling system for my boat. Is anyone using an epoxy based antifouling, trade name is Coppercoat. The manufacturers claim that it will last for 10 years +. I have read mixed comments about this type of antifouling but am very interested to know if anyone on the forum has experience with it.
Joe, is the copper additive you used with the West epoxy doing the job of antifouling? Is it an additive from West marine themselves?

I had spoken to them once, thing is here in the Med and especially around Malta I would say it's a very high fouling area, so I'm not sure how effective it would be. Only one way to find out but the stuff ain't cheap
No, the copper additive is serves the job as a primer. Yes, the additive is by West Systems, not west marine!
I contacted them and for an 18.6ft boat it was going to be somewhere in the region of 600 euro. Well if it were to in fact last 10 years that would be great but i have my doubts. Until i hear of a few local success stories i will stick to the tried and tested method i.e. West Systems barrier coating and traditional antifouling. Thanks guys if anyone else has any experience please share.
