Hi guys,
a friend told me a spinning rod shouldn't be telescopic. For what reason is this so? And what should i look for in a spinning rod?
Thanks
Ken
It is true, Real spinning rods should be a 2 piece, I have a 2 piece spinning rod and i also have a telescopic Beachcastin/spinning rod. I find the spinning one best with lures and the telescopic with spinners.
Perhaps it has something to do with the progressive action of the blank, a more sensitive tip with a stronger base which can't be done so well with a Telescopic rod. You probably lose some strength as well like that, but I'm just guessing.
with a 2 piece you have more strength and better casting action...
Do look for a good rod as spinning is demanding on the rod and reel... and if you get a good fish....
There are telescopic rods aswell but the best spinning rods are 1 or 2 piece rods because there aren't much parts so the rod will be stronger.

A proper spinning rod is a one-piece, period. The only problem is transportation, the rod gets in the way in the car. This is what has been keeping me from dishing out ?400 on my dream rod hehehe :) the next best would be a 2 piece. Telescopics are not as sensitive and will only really work for heavy lures.

It should ideally be a one or two peice rod but it depends alot on where your spinning and what types of lures your using.due to some of the spots i go to and the use of quite heavy lures i use a telescopic rod alot..basically
shouldn't dosen't exist as far as im concerned!... use what works best for you.period! :)
