Any of you use squid jigs to catch squid to use as bait in Malta? What style of squid jigs do you use here (prawn style, Asian-hook style, traditional "straight" jig with umbrella hook, etc.)?
Lots of people def go out for squid, with the majority from land though we've seen in this forum alot will most likely now try by boat. Not an expert on squid jigs, but the straight umbrella type seems to be found alot in the tackle shops here.
I use the yo-zuri squd jigs with the pointed needles at the back. They work fine for me.
The ones which are used most are the prawn type but we also have the ones which you troll and the strait ones and the fish shape
I've always fished for squid from shore. But this winter I intend on using my 13ft boat to catch them. So you mean I need different squd jigs for boat fishing ?
I dont really have any idea of how to fish for squid from the boat.
No Gottie, you can use the same Jigs. Use a hand line rather than a rod because you won't feel them much. It's like bottom fishing, but with the lures. I have a guide on how to fish for squid at:

-when i go buy accessories for sqiud fishing what should i ask for that mostly works?
