Robby017 has forwarded me details of a fundraising event being held for Louis Bonavia who was involved in an incident whilst spearfishing off Gozo on the 25th May that left him partly disabled.

The Management and Staff of the Phoenecia Hotel are organising a

Individuals can donate directly or alternatively should anyone wish to make a donation to the Louis Bonavia fund, I thought it would be nice if we all pooled together and made one donation from the members of the Malta Fishing Forum. These donations will be collected at the Alungi safety briefing on the 24th June and also at the BBQ on the 18th July.

I will be attending their BBQ event on the 24th July - in fact I shifted our date of the 25th July back to the 18th to avoid a clash.

Heq, unfortunately we didn't choose the 24th July but I felt it was the best thing to do to shift ours.

Just wondering if any forums guys are interested in us doing a grouped donation to Louis or whether you would prefer to do it on your own.

From the Safety Briefing held last week, the owner Patrick from Punch and Judy made a very kind gesture and gave the forum a donation which I have put aside in a sort of benefit fund for fun raising requirements, donations etc.

i would help out, within my limits, just indicate how skip. it can happen to anyone of us guys, may be even a swimmer, not just a spearo.

let's not be selfish a small donation  over many members can become a nice amount

any ideas how to do it?

I was thinking that we could do a collection on the 18th at the forum event/prize giving and then present it the following week at the fundraiser.

could we create a paypal account accessible from the internet and one can make the payment via the forum?? just an idea

we could do but with the commission paypal take it's slightly less then but if the majority feel that would be best, easily done

i thought of it because it can attract a lot more donations since it is derived from a form of plastic money, and not dependent on an event that probably attend 40-50 ppl but a forum with more than 1000 users...

How many people will be attending from the forum?

who is attending this fund raiser from the MFF? My girlfried and I might join but we're still undecided.

We where going to be in 6 and when Giovanni called to see whats about the tickets they said that there is no more available. :(

That's a shame as I was going to call for tickets. As Robby said good that the fund raising event has sold out...but a shame they didn't anticiapte the numbers.

Perhaps we can still make a donation from the forum, although I haven't heard from anyone who is interested.
