Title: Advice :)
Post by: Kain on July 22, 2009, 17:23:43 CET
Hi, i'm quite new to spearfishing and i'm thinking of buying a speargun and a friend of mine recommended a 75cm is a good size to begin with. I have been surfing the net and i came across the Cressi Sub Geronimo but when reading on the forum nobody ever mentions the brand, are they not that good?

This a pic of the speargun http://www.cressi.it/2009/SchedeVedi.asp?id=409 (http://www.cressi.it/2009/SchedeVedi.asp?id=409)

It depends what fishing method your going to use.  I personally would go for a 90 or 100 for aspetto/caduta/aguatto and a 75 for crevice hunting.

Regarding the cressi gun...... any gun will be good to start with as long as you get used to it.  At least thats my opinion.

My friend I have two spearguns from cressi the apache 90 and 75. I bought them 15 years ago  and still I use them.Unfortunatley I need to change the 90  because I am seeing cracks on the handle and corrosion.Surely when I go to buy a new speargun I will choose another cressi the comanche or the geronimo. The most thing I like on them is the comfort grip of their handle and their balance in the water.

Thanks for the replies guys. I thought a 75 was good because mainly i will be using it for crevice hunting then when i get a bit more practice in controlling the breathe maybe aguatto :) but all in its time hehe

I found a great book, which goes into great details about apnea. I guess a lot of you know about it, but i thought i should list anyway

BOOK: Manual of Freediving: Underwater on a Single Breath
