Title: Radio Frequency

Can someone please inform me of the radio channels or frequencies I need to know before heading out, to request help or to speak with others?

Distress and safety messages Ch 16
Port control (Valletta) Ch 12
Marsaxlokk Port control ch 14
Malta VTS (AFM) ch 69
Navigational warnings/ weather broadcasts ch 11
Terminals/marina ch 13
Public can use Ch 6 Ch 9 and others except Ch 70 (Distress and safety messages)since this is used for DSC (Digital Selective Calling)emergency same as Ch 16 but only data transmission for GPS coordinates etc. Most VHF have this channel blocked for this reason.

I am not sure cause i never follow i.e i see the forcast before. If not mistaken they broadcast them at certain time though. maybe some else can help in this regards or maybe contact Malta communications authority or MMA for further details sorry on this one 148148.

Weather forecast is broadcast in English and Maltese
