Guys as some of you might know (u xbajtu tit**jku fuq ogget li seta kellu konsegwenzi serji hafna) yesterday on our way out i was sitting on the side of my boat and at one moment i just fell back ending up in the water. Luckily enough i wasnt on my own as perla165 and his dad were with me. I must say i am very lucky that this happened when i wasnt on my own as very bad consequences could have happened.
I have heard that there are some sort of devices which you wear on your wrist and has a wireless connection to a base station that could be set, that if one is on his own and fell overboard the engine stops running after the boat moves away 5m from the person in the sea. Has anyone of you heard of these devices ?? I have tried searching on westmarine and ebay but didnt find what i am looking for.
Thanks guys :)
HAHAHAHHAHAH....Good One ;D :D ;) :) I had a similar system on my boat kane,i dont know if you can do it on an inboard it's the kill switch used on jetskies as well!!....Il-Alla kemm kont nidhaq bik man!!
try this site bigboy.
it is good for both inboard and outboard engines

le le mandiex xtaqsam ma dik is safety lanyard man. ijwa ijwa kulhadd jidhaq basta ma tigrix lilu hux

Thanks shanook but both are for outboard motors :/
Bigboy, the Autotheter (first link from Shanook) can be used with both outboard an inboard.
In your case all you have to do is install a generic killswitch on your inboard which should not be that difficult. eg. http://www.bobsmachine.com/products/controls_safety.cfm
http://www.colehersee.com/pdf/hot_feed/D-592_cutoff.pdf
You can then either just use the lanyard or a wireless system like the autotheter. If you need any further explanation don't hesitate to ask.
its true they were origiannly invented to be used instead of the lanyard. But there is an additional switch (looks like the switch of the outboard motor) and this breaks the contact and kills ur engine. So they are and can be used on an inboard engine
opps sorry benri didnt notice ur postso i just hit ok. but as u explained it is an easy matter to install on an outboard. U can also doiton twin inboards as well
Thanks very much guys :) Very helpful :)
when u get the bill u wont be that happy man....................:)P
lol Shanook...
@bigboy I think this is your best least expensive option.

benri thats just the kill switch that bigboy will have to add to his wireing, the wireless device that operates the kill switch is the autotether. So with the wireless device and that switch u can be safe if u fall overboard
U need something else bigboy. Your boat is quite high so u have to have something hanging on the side to go up. Try to make something that is easy to climb up as u never know if u get hurt when u fall. and in winter a 20 minutes swim will take a lot out of u
If he's got an old diesel just turning the key off might not be enough, You have to pull that choke thingie!
I am no diesel engine expert but i am sure that there is a way how to go about it.
@Bigboy - does your engine stop when you turn off the key?
i think the safest thing is, 1, don't go alone, 2 don't sit on the edge....... jien hsibt waqajt l imsida biex tmur fuq it tender man!!! nitalmu minnha l-ahwa din!!!!
once on the tv programm x qala l bahar they showed this device that when you go 6 metres far from the engine (i think you set the distance) the inboard engine stops. when they didn t give any information from where to buy it. SKIP maybe you know where to contact them and ask them about it
I will try and contact Emi to ask him
Skip my engine is very modern and switches off just with a turn of the key, i.e. when current is stopped.
therefore it's very easy to use the one I suggested before. should not be a problem and should not be expensive..
you just need to link the main supply to this kill switch , its very efficent and reliable
Given the type of fishing you do bigboy you might want to make the tether longer or locate the kill switch towards the back of your boat.
I thought bigboy wanted a wireless one not a lanyard. With the kind of fishing that bigboy does it will be in the way if he uses a lanyard and will soon put it aside. Ur call mate
If you wont find the required item you have to install a bypass wire to the solenoid to activate and cut off the pump supply.
fil kaz jekk ta tinqediex trid tghaddi speci ta bypass wire biex tativa is solenoid w jitfi il pompa ta diesel..
ezatt destination kull ma jrid jaghmel hu switch fil wire tas solenoid.
