I need some parts for Nissan 140 A.... Do you know of any international sellers who can help? websites and the likes? As local agents want to take us for a ride as their prices compared to a US pricelist are 6 times more.... and im sure that the shipping for 2 small parts, the price is not in the region of 300 euro from the US >:(
any feedback is appreciated.

a very well done.......... already found 2 supplier's selling and shipping the parts for roughly half the price(circa $170) i was quoted in Malta... namley Jupiter and Mecca Marine. ( 300Euro+)
obviously i'll be getting them shipped from the States, but first i'm waiting for a couple replies from the UK.
Robby just an added bonus If you go to http://tohatsu-nissan-parts.com/PartsCatalogMenu.htm on the left top there is the parts catalog with all motors in PDF .helps you to get things together happily ever after ;D

TOHATSU & NISSAN PARTS:
MECCA MARINE strives to import and supply all products at the lowest possible prices. Now importing TOHATSU and other Outboards, MECCA delivers and most of you know this. Time will tell and replies to many posts here, but till then, we shall continue with our business as you all know it and enhance on that.
2 stroke parts are no longer supplied from TOHATSU HUB in Europe but all are being imported from JAPAN. This takes more time and cost is more. We import all in the normal way including: Freight, Duty & VAT.
ROBBY 017 - Kindly email us sales@mecca.com.mt and i will do my utmost to match the price.

BU*****T
I ALREADY CAME TO YOUR SHOP..... THE PRICE YOU QUOTED WAS 255 EURO FOR 2 MOUNTINGS AND 91 EURO FOR 2 BOLTS........
QuoteROBBY 017 - Kindly email us sales@mecca.com.mt and i will do my utmost to match the price.
NOW YOU WANT TO MATCH THE PRICE ??? ??? ???
NOW THAT I HAVE 3 QUOTES IN HAND, 2 FROM USA AND 1 FROM THE UK.....
1) $170 INC SHIPPING
2) $169 INC SHIPPING
3) GBP 113 INC AIRMAIL (LESS THAN 1 WEEK SHIPPING TO MY DOORSTEP)
MECCA MARINE PRICE = 346 EURO
AVRAGE OF THE ABOVE 3 INC SHIPPING = 125 EURO
ASSUMED MARK UP FOR MECCA MARINE - > 221 EURO
DO NOTE, THE PARTS FROM THESE 3 SUPPLIERS ARE ORIGINAL TOHATSU........
Are the two bolts 18 crt gold Robby??....Buy them online rob..it's always like this in malta. When you tell them that you found a better price they try to match it after. It happened to me once i needed some parts of my motor i was quoted a rice of LM 550 !!!.....i got all the parts includine 2 day express shipping for.............LM 110... now thats a bargain...i say buy everything from abroad ax hawn hekk irridu!!
AMEN TO THAT........ ALREADY ORDERED EVERYTHING FROM THE COMFORT OF MY DESK......
and btw Meccanic...... kif kont bqajt fuq l award tas suzuki??? dik is sabiha tal hgieg ma nista insiba imkien fuq l internet..... minjaf ?????

http://maltafishingforum.com/talk/index.php/topic,2645.msg33391/topicseen.html#new
quick update on the above....... purchased parts from Extreme Marine (thanks nick) total inc Vat and shipping 126 euro
paid for them tuesday, they were mailed wednesday and received them friday (2 days flat)
parts are original tohatsu and made and packaged in JAPAN......
So, anyone needing parts, check online before going to the local agent...... in our case we saved circa 221 euro and got them shipped faster than the 1 week quoted by the suppliers.
we are maltese...... we take no s*** ;D

we are maltese...... we take no s*** ;D
but some of us will still insist on trying :(
After all this is 2010...and this is a forum on the INTERNET...so just how f***ing stupid do some idiots think people are???
I don't mind a local company making a fair profit but a diff. of 221 euro's is taking the piss!!! Well done rob ;D
Yes a lot of maltese companies (NOT ALL) think that their the only ones in the world selling the prouct and charge the price x5
Today people have the internet and get to know the real prices = saving money
its a viscous circle. The supplier in Malta charges high because the volume is low so he needs to mark up (no excuse to any supplier mind u), so we buy from abroad.....money is being exported, supplier slows down in sales....circulation of money gets slow.....hey presto we have a recession.....government introduces more taxes usually we get it and gives tax breaks to supplier...........where does it end?!?!?! any economists here to enlighten us.
Oh by the way i worked hard all my life and dont have a fraction of what businessman have so there must be a SMALL profit .......
but then who cares the MOST important thing is that you saved a good amount of money eh Rob.....more pizza to buy
also, i am assuming, (something as an accountant i should not be doing), but lets assume, that in Mecca Marine's quote, Vat at 18% is included. If it is not...... before calculating any surplus, we must reduce the 17.5% Vat paid in the UK.
Therefore, IF Mecca's quote does NOT include VAT, the surplus is 346 euro (Mecca's price) less 96.65 sterling (extreme marine's price inc shipping but excluding VAT at 17.5%) which works out to 105 euro, thus surplus being 241 euro for 2 bolts and 2 mountings....... however, we will never know as we did not ask this before.
will scan extreme marine's invoice tomorrow if i find the time as proof of the above.
@shanook...... le hi, no more pizza...... with the money i saved...... i covered most of the costs to go to Lampedusa with my friends.
thats a cool idea rob so thanks to Mecca u are going for a fishing trip to Lampedusa........I never get so lucky grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
no thanks to Mecca....... thanks to my insistance, bil malti mhux ha npaxxi l hadd imma ha nitpaxxa jien
Main thing is you got your parts and now skates on to get them fitted ASAP :)
thats true, but i'm quite packed with lessons now.... ACCA in full swing........ hopefully will get fixed next saturday...... thanks again for the link.
The company was referred to me a while back by another forum member mozzi who has purchased parts from them before.
i loved this topic.....well done guys.........thumbs up for those LINKS........
these so called "agents" just can't realize that people are getting more and more stuff online then locally.
i almost never check prices here in Malta i get them immediately from abroad, from the comfort of my PC directly to my doorstep, all original and alot cheaper.
the only things i buy locally are small stuff that i can't afford waiting for them to arrive
we are maltese...... we take no s***
AMEN
Daniel
I fully agree that items are cheaper from abroad but some times it depends .recently i purchase diagnostic s/w and cable for my motor from the local agent. The cable came about 90$ cheaper and the s/w 200$+ cheaper. So i always compare price first.

thanks guys, just been to the local agent here for an inpeler for a Tohatsu 50 TLDI (still being advertised to buy them new), phoned before to check avalability, not to get to bugibba for nothing, they confirmed on the phone that was in stock, left from Siggiewi and surprice surprice once there they saw that they don t have. Had a sh... answer saying of selling the last one this morning. I don t know why these people work like this.
Then thanks to the forum and internet, in 10 minutes I ve ordered this part together with some extra partrs without any problems (and I bet that they come cheaper and faster). This is the reason of people buying online.
