Post by: skip on June 16, 2007, 20:45:54 CET
Three guys including SimonG spearfished a beautiful 40kgs+ monster Amberjeck a couple of days ago, that is definately worthy of a mention. Hopefully when they have the time in between dives they will manage to post pics and more details but I thought it ough to be put up here asap.

Well done to the guys, I saw the fish, the head was massive.

hey guys can someone answer my question about lines ? because as far as i know no-one did . i want to know if braided line is useful for surf-casting . i heard it won't stand up to the abrasive attributes of sand. what do you think ? should i keep using standard mono for my reel ?

I would leave normal mono.

Make sure you use the shock leader method when surpassing the 50gms launch.

Should you need additional info contact the aNGLER, AS HE'S AN EXPERT IN THE FIELD

i know the dentex was shot with a sargu and was hit by mistake and too badly wounded to release

even when bottom line fishing sometimes you catch small fish but when you release them they stay afloat and die

Puncture the bubble in their mouth, should help them go down

but i think that they will die if you burst their bubble. they cant regulate the pressure between that of the sea and their body.

thats how i understood too,the bubble is the flotation bladder without it the fish won't be able to equalize the pressure of its body to the water pressure,so if you burst it it will die anyway.

Yes. Infact freeman didn't specify anything between living and dying. He just said it will help them go down, which I'm sure it will.

tbh i have no clue if they live or die, but when i trow back the serran without puncturing the bubble they all stay afloat, when i puncture they at least swim down, i guess at least they dont die in plain sight  :-\
