Title: Books obout fishing
Post by: ken82 on October 25, 2010, 07:41:20 CET
Hello guys,

i'm trying to find a book / books that gives some god info regarding spinning. I know some basics can be acquired from the net and forums but in my opinion a good reference book is always useful.

Also would like to buy a good book regarding local fish with photos (not pictures as i already have one).

Can anyone help?
Do you guys have any book/s which you found useful?

Thanks in advance

Kenneth

hi Ken! Most books that i have found on spinning were either directed towards freshwater or tropical species. I do not think that you can get any better than reading the italian fishing magazines and searching forums.
There are some excellent japanese magazines but unfortunately i have yet to become fluent :)

Like clutch i also found that most book are directed more towards freshwater species like pike, zander, trout & salmon & i also agree you will find more info on italian websites/forums etc
This has alot of good info...its an online magazine and is more relevant to us here as its based in the med.

Also, whilst a good reference source,book/site is useful now and again,i wouldn't take everything as the end of,last word on any issue.Lure fishing being what it is,its so unpredictable that there is no 100% right way/time/place and just because something worked today (e.g lure type/colour,presentation method...etc) doesn't mean its automatically going to work the same tomorrow.
Successful lure fishing (or any kind imho) is seeing whats going around you and adapting accordingly..and even then there's no guarantee!!

Global fishing is an online magazine run by Domenico Cravelli, an authority in Italy when it comes to fishing.  he is also a member of this forum.

There is one book by Claudio Saba if not mistaken, re spinning in the Med. I tried getting it but didn't manage yet. There are also some other good books with respect to costal fishing in Italian.

.........i think this book is 100% info for us (not 70% river/lake spinning)

Found also another book by Editoriale Olimpia a bit old ( 2000) but still it is a mix of river and sea spining.

Ken the problem is that Spinning in Seawater is still an evolving technique, and it keeps being re-written as time goes by.  Everyday people find new lures or techniques, which they devolop and launch on the market.  So any written book is bound to become outdated within a few years, if not months.  The basics will remain the same, however the technology is jetting ahead.
