Gonna be organising a fenkata on the 4th of Feb 2011 with Seafox and Baghira.

Let's get together guys for a wonderful night where the Gaffer & the Admin Staff would be updating us on this year's busy schedule of activities. It's a great opportunity to share our knowledge and renew our friendship over a fenkata...... so as Robby stated.... do keep the night of the 4th Feb free and start enrolling once Robby posts the details.

I guess most of you missed the message here. I have a slight concern. Nick posted that he'd very much like to attend, bust asked if this could be postponed by one week. Given the prevailing circumstances, and the fact that we will be discussing the up and coming Tournament, would the organisers consder a one week postponment?.
Also, please finalise the details on the venue, whether its members only or accompanied by wives/partners, menu and cost.
Consideration should be given to the venue, as we need a relatively quiet environment to discuss.

i'll be working on it this weekend Joe...... naqa busy at work bhalissa...... yes, it will be postponed, backwards or forward...... def since nick needs to be there. Re: venue.... i'm gonna work on having the place to ourselves...... this means we need to work on the numbers. I recomend + partners as they will (1) know what we're working on; (2) may be in a position to give us new ideas us guys do not think about....... but more info will be posted in the weekend.

I only pointed out that from NOW on... which is as you rightly said is posted after this thread.
No you dont need to fill me in, although I dont mind as long as it is eatable, since once you have done all the work there is no way to object or otherwise. I know what it means to organise a get together.

Here are the details

Date 11th Feb 2011 @ Greyhound in Bidnija

The cost is going to be of Euro18 each

- starters the usual platters, bebeux, crackers, salami, etc

- Then Spaghetti with fenek sauce.

- Later a choice of Rib Eye, Rabbit or Chicken breast for the main is available.

-Dessert will consist of peanuts, helwa tat-tork and coffee.

Should your partners wish to join, they are more than welcome.

The place can fit max 40. First come first served basis.
Also, incorporated in the price, SEAFOX managed to get Natasha to give us free bottled water and 4 bottles of wine.

All other drinks have to be paid for.

Very very valid point.....

However, my reasoning was this.... whenever we organise, or at least i was involved in organising a fenkata or drinks etc..... never have we, even with partners surpassed 40. Excluding the obligatory attandence to last years alungi competition briefing and both prize giving cermonies of last year and the year before that when we had it at beachhaven.

Furthermore, below is the final list of last years fenkata:

Also, i am keeping my gf in mind who's been given an important role in the Puttinu event, something we'll be surely discussing on the day, and i don't want her to feel as though she's the odd one out or excluded in any way.

Agreed, I wasn't aware that we had such a low turnout...Imnalla jkunu n-nisa taghna!!!

Just thought that maybe, since this fenkata is also tied in with the tournament, we might have a larger attendance. In any case, if there is, we can always improvise. Good thing chaps.

Pretty unlikely cos the Greyhound restaurant which we (+ Robby & Baghira) visited on Tuesday is full to the max with 40. We would be a little cramped if we try to fit additional guest/members but will leave it to Rob & Baghira to comment also.

needless to say, this exception is being made for 2 reasons......

1 they've been long and ACTIVE members here on the forum

and

2 we've always had Okuma's support here on the forum and he's one of our main sponsersfor the Oris Big Game Event. Whilst Placedo is the newly appointed PR officer of the KSFA if im not mistaken.

Final Details for the MFF fenkata, 11/2/2011:

Meeting at Grey Hound Restaurant in Bidnija, right next to the church(you can't miss it)

Time: 8.00pm

The cost is going to be of Euro18 each

Appetisers:

1. Garlic Bread or Hobz biz zejt
2. Well Assorted Platters (circa 1 platter every 5 persons)
3. Bebbux with a very apetising sauce (so we we're told) (1 abundant portion for every 5 persons)

Starter:

Spaghetti with rabbit sauce.

Main Course:

As per our choice of Rib Eye, Rabbit or Chicken breast.

Sides: Chips & Salad.
Mushroom sauce and Peppered Sauce will also be available in bowls on the tables as an accompaniment to your meal.

Dessert:

This shall consist of peanuts, helwa tat-tork and coffee.

Included in the price are 8 bottles of water (2 bottles per table of 10)

All other drinks have to be paid for at the bar.

Thanks in advance for your support and see you there. Please do not be late.

Also, thanks to Seafox and baghira for finding the time to visit Grey hound with me in advance to plan out with the restaurant owner the finalised menu to ensure a most satisfying meal and event as possible.

Apparti ic cajt shabi...Tell me where you can find the above "full" menu, which includes Rib Eye for 18 Euros, cheaper or better - anywhere you go and have rib eye as a main wont cost you less than 15 Euors for the Rib Eye itself, let me know of some place that is cheaper so I will visit..... so pls. do consider the whole menu and we assure you that food-wise everybody is going to be satisfied. @BigBoy - jekk tried izied xtikol Natasha u Rosanne jiehdu hsiebek ta!

@robby - 8pm is toooooo early. Don't know if I will make it on time as my missus finishes at 7-7.15pm from pharmacy. Has to drive long way to home, shower, leeeengthy make up session (is-soltu) and dress. And than all the way to Bidnija. Will inform you if reluctantly will have to drop out.

U le guys the place is so easy to find unless the map is not understandable....as you leave Mosta on the way down to Burmmurad just by the sharp curve take the left turning and go straight up until you see the Church, The restuarant is right near the church. parking space is plentiful.
On the way to the church the road is like a "bennina", but keep going straight ahead (anyway there is no other road to turn into!)..One may have also noted that by the sharp curve that leads to Burmurrad a truck selling vegetables is normally parked there, left side. There is a sign also that states "Bidnija", and unless I am mistaken, the Greyhound also has a sign...see u Friday at 8.00 pm chaps, casual clothing please!

The food was excellent, the company great, value for money was second to none. Well done to the organisers, well done to the members and their partners for the donation, well done to the venue and hostesses for making it an enjoyable evening. I would have no hesitation in organising the next get toegther sheduled for sometime in April at the same venue. This get together will be open for members only, and will provide an educational workshop hosted by the Fisheries Control Division who have kindly accepted the MFF's invitation to deliver a talk on rules and regulations that govern recreational fishing, vessel registration, permissible fishing tackle and will be there to answer any questions put forward by the MFF members.
The venue offers a great opportunity as it is compact and the location presents no parking problems. My only concern is that it can only host 40 people at one go. If we have more mebers attending this workshop/get together, we need to think of an alternative.

@Gaffer - your idea of having another sitting during April at the Greyhound is excellent. Given the size of the place I do agree that it may be a problem having the FCD present with the intention of turning the occasion into an educational workshop related to our recreational activities.
In view of the proposed occasion I am confident that we would have a larger turnout and therefore we must seek a bigger place, which is not difficult to locate. U Baghira when you are around the place is lively, u il "LIK" dejjem jaqa fuqhek...despite your crooked hook and a short ladder. Darb ohra zomm is sellun sew ta!
