I know this is not a fishing topic but I would like to know your advice before buying a new TV.
I have a Plasma 42'' 6 years old so about time i get something as an add on.
I am thinking from 37'' up TV. LED or LCD
Can anyone suggest a tv either here or by PM.
I will delete this topic as its not Fishing related although I watch fishing programmes on it.
Thanks
I have a 32" Sony full HD engine BraviaII LCD screen. My son has a Panasonic, same specs, only his was about €300 cheaper. Depends on what you plan on seeing. If you're into Blue ray movies and stuff, then go for an LED one. Bit expensive, but the picture quality is the best. If you just use the TV to watch TV programmes, with the odd DVD every now and then, then you can always go for the 2nd option. That's my opinion.
10ks Joe i was thinking that way as well
I just bought an LG 32" lcd full hd it was about 430euros from top choise they had another lg full hd 100hz it was 524eu as picture quality It was worth every euro. but it was out af my budget

great minds think alike!!
thanks ggantno1 i appreciate
Go for the bigger that can fit (and you can afford). If it seems too big in time it will start looking small!
Go for LED as the technology is a little better but forget 3D for now.
The big names do give some more picture detail but you have to pay the price for it too.
moonwalker I dont think that the bigger the better .it depends from the size of the room its useless ta have 47inch in a 2.5mtr becouse it will be to big for the room . for example mine is 32inch and it is in the kitchen and I noticed the difference from watching the tv from a chair that is 1.5m near the tv or from the sofa that is about 2.8mtrs from the tv .my eyes feel much better after 2hrs watching a movie when Im on the sofa .
ggantno1 - The distance only matters when watching SD pictures. When watching HD pictures you wont feel the strain on your eyes. Thats how I feel when watching my 42inch - even from 1m I can watch for hours.
I didnt say that I felt lots of strain or something like that . Altough my tv is fullhd I still find it better to watch from a little distance . This didn't happen to me only becouse some of the sellers that I talked too mentioned this . Boqq I don't know maybe it depends on the person that is watching the tv.
Well it doesn't matter if your TV is full HD or not. You have to be watching HD picture to feel the difference - either BluRay or Satellite HD.
You're still paying quite the premium for an LED TV, it depends on whether you are willing to be a relatively earlier adopter of the latest technology and pay a premium for it. Otherwise something like a Full HD LCD Series 5 from Samsung in the 40 inch size is quite reasonable at around €650.
I also have a Sony Bravia 40 Full HD LCD and like the TV alot - you can always double check somewhere like www.homecinemachoice.com in their online reviews section.
Samsung is manufactured in quite a few Far East countires. In case that one buys a set/unit from the local Samsung agents in Psaila street the price is quasi double for a 40 inch LED HD set, of course these would be completely manufactured in Japan. Is purchasing a Japanese made TV worth it rather than one made in Malaysia? ..maybe not, but then it depends on one's budget.
On a persoanl note..one of my Japanese Samsungs went bust after a year, this was immediatly repaired free of charge by the agent.
The real difference between LED and LCD is the back light. Full LED tvs should give better blacks in theory. However LED tvs do have a crisper picture too maybe because they use better materials over the older LCD models.
You also have to check the power consumption. LED tvs should consume much less power than LCD and you could easily work out the cost saving.
About faults/repairs its the agent/shop that counts at the end and not the manufacture country.
