then why did you open a 'poll' when you could have opened a normal topic/thread.

the best advice on what engine to fit a boat is by looking at the manufacturer's notes about that particular boat.

i'm not sure if albatross is manufactured in malta or imported..... best to find its dealer/agent and ask there, or else, there should be an aluminium tag stuck to the boat stating its weight lot number, number of persons it can take and what engine should be fitted, that is what you have to follow.

we used to have an albatros. I did not have a big engine on it only 4hp. I know that the earlier models where constructed by silvercraft and used to be well built, however later this changed and the one i had was poor quality with basic bad stuff i.e.  The transom was just the two hulls with a hollow space, hence when you tighten the motor the fibre would just bend leaving the motor not safely in place, the various snaps, rowing pins, etc would come off easily etc.

Ramo91 I amended your poll so that now it makes some sense, I guess based on the information you are looking for.

Have you already bought this Albatross or are you currently looking at options? I used a to have an Orange Albatross 330 that had an 8hp on it, but I believe these hulls were semi-displacement and not totally planing hull (I stand to be corrected)

Back then I still need to use an extension pole to get my weight forward to sort of get the boat to plane with an 8hp two stroke and performance wasn't that great. I had injected foam into the flooring as it was very thin between the stringers and also reinforced the transom as it was rather weak. So I would imagine with a 25hp even though it's the 390 model you might need to reinforce the transom.

Do you have an approx budget for the boat you are looking for, as someone might know of a boat for sale within your budget.

I have a 390 albatross, I have a 15 hp 2 stroke yamaha and a 5hp extra outbourd,

we normally be 3 persons while fishing and I weigh 130kg, it does not plain with the 15,

With a 25hp it will plain, but will not be stable as the form is like a banju of the hull,

You need to support the transom first.
Infact zarb motors have stopped manufacturing boats and are know only importing suzuki outbourds.
I would rather look for a buccaneer, or petercraft or kaptan makes, they are more professional and safe at sea.
I own one and that's my opinion.
Still I don't ever dream of getting rid of it although I have 2 more.
Alone during weekdays I manage it alone with no problems in slipways like bugibba.
