I think this is a Marzpan, has tough teeth that cracks shell fish with. This rock fish comes is many different colours. We used to have plenty of it caught in the parnit/nets by the Munxar reef.....in days gone by of course! I am sure that those members who go spear fishing have seen it in thier "travels", probably having a different name for it.

that's a parott fish known as papagal or marzpan in maltese. It's a very common fish.

Max - great pics and very colorful fish, Tks.....you remind me of our younger days when we netted plenty of these "parrot fish" in about 100ft of water.

Redhead reminded me of the English version, tks also. They are also very tasty too....Fejnu Robby?
