i got this one with my speargun in the south of Malta .... never saw one like it before but now i will surely try finding another one like it :) anyone knows where they usually appear?

Usually we catch them in ports, and to say it honestly, I do not like it so much. The greatest number of awrat in 1 catch I caught was near St Lucian Tower. There is some fishfarms breading them, but I don't like to fish in ports. Also you can find awrat at Mistra, but you have to be in the right time and right place. I will ask SimonG, maybe we can arrange to go a day out spearfishing. But for me, I Will be available from 1st October because I'm trying for another amberjack. My ears are alright again and think that from Wednesday I will be back in water waiting, maybe we put another photo on the forum ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
i didn't get this one from a port ... and i think that it had been out in the wild for a couple of years as fishfarm do not keep them this big!! i really would like to get another couple of these giltheads!! would love to go spearfishing with a pro once :)
I like to spearfishing by cliffs, so never meet an awrat out there. If you would like in October we can meet and have a nice fishing day together and so we meet and learn from each other. Today a friend of mine told me that he also saw some more awrat,maybe here are few around Maltaand it's their time. Saying for me,"It's only time for 2hrs of spearfishing in the morning and some training for apnea me and Jean in the evening in a pool

hey emicmalta, i would love to meet up for a swim one day, however i'll be abroad in 2 weeks! after that we fix a day and go spearfishing! i consider myself as a bigginer but i am willing to learn!! so i will surely remind you for a swim!! :) did yr friend mention where he saw the giltheads?

Yes he told me, but better not to say anymore info, because for the next dive he will not give me any tips.
Toughed that I was ready to dive tomorrow but still feeling some bad compensation with my ear.

i haven't gone spearfishing this week as i am busy with a project at the moment.. i will try and go as soon as i have some free time... about the 2kg amberjack or bass i didn't see any yet!!
