Post by: werzieq on July 07, 2011, 16:40:16 CET
Hi guys,
this is my first time writing in forum and i would like to ask which is the best of these two fishfinders/chartplotter between the Garmin 421S and the Lowrance  ELITE-5.
RGDS :)

I own a garmin 521 s which is exactly the same as the 421.
I think that for the few price difference, its worth to buy the 521, since the screen size makes a lot of diference.
I also happend to see the HDS woreking but I cannot comment about the elite..
A small disadvatage I find on the garmin is that the fish are not show as arches, and so I fid it a bit difficult to interpret the signal.

The Elite Series from Lowrance are very good and support the Downscan Imaging. However I am not very familar with the Garmin Range so can't comment on those, but you can't go wrong with the new range of Lowrance GPS/Plotters/FF

As skip said, you can't go wrong with the HDS models but do your homework well see what depths you will fish and what are your needs. Have a chat with Simon at Caruana marine he will definitely gives you some good advice and tell him that you are a member of this forum.
