I believe you are refering to beach casting, if that's the case than yes it is becoming a popular fishing method lately, I've spent a couple of months hooked up on this method but i didn't stick to it, very few bites compared to say port fishing. I went on a fishing holiday in Tunes and had a very nice week reeling in oversized sargi/pagell/trill and a 5+ kg ray, all cought from the beach, came back in malta spent 2 months scouring our beaches but in the end i gave up, no mentionable catches.
I suppose it should give some results if you put you'r mind on it, Mnieges, Pagell sargi and xriegen are mainly what you would go after over here, as baits I belive Bibi/American/Korea hooked whole and alive should be the way to go and since in summer our beaches are fairly crowded I think it would be best to go in winter, ideally go with a friend as from my experiance it can get pretty boring pretty soon.

Why are you so surprised of not making any decent catches if all our beaches are surrounded by pariti  :-\
