Title: Lacci
Post by: Plamtu on December 09, 2011, 18:47:30 CET
Hey Everyone,

Does anybody know if its possible to buy fresh Lacci at the moment? Probably the Pixkeria is the best place to try but does anyone have further information on how I could get hold of a few boxes? Pixkeria? Marsaxlokk?

Fresh would be better but fresh frozen is not a problem as long as they are not 10 years old! I am willing to buy if anyone has good quality ones. I also have alot of small Cavalli and can trade for Lacci.

Thanks,

Nigel

i think that the lacci is out of season you have to wait till the lampuki fishing ends and then the commercial fisher man go with the lampara ,you have to wait till mid january

I am interested in learning how to catch them. I presume its similar to cavalli at night with a light?? I have never come across this type of fish so im guessing that you have to go at least 1 mile out?

no you can catch them from shores using a big heavy long net ...... you just wait for the lacci to regroup on surface and you just hit into them with the net .... senglea was perfect for lacci at night ... just observe the places where the lacci regroup in lightened areas

heavy long net i mean - a LANDING NET (kop) made with a long hand pole (we use the bottom thick four parts of a normal fishing pole (qasba tal idejn minn dawk ic cheap) ta 7mtr .... only the back 4 parts imma and adjust and fit a bit of heavy ring with net to make the landing net on the front
