Title: Cooking Plamptu
Post by: Granitu on February 06, 2012, 12:16:48 CET
Do you know any good recipie to cook a plamptu? Is its taste good at least or not worth cooking?

It came to mind to cook it al cartoccio but i dont think it is a good idea with a plamtu.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated

Hi Granitu

You can slice the plamtu in pieces, dip them in CORN FLOUR and fry them in OLIVE oil. Obviously, do not forget to add salt :)

Bon Appetit!

the meat is cosidered as rather dry. Al cartoccio is good for most fish especially if they are dry when cooked al cartoccio they keep moist. Always cooked plamtu , sawrella and puki this way and were always good

Plamtu is considered to be the best of the small tunas (It is not expensive but is always sold at a higher price than kubrit).

I like it very much and it is good both fried and al cartoccio as explained above. If it is a reasonably largish fish it is also good to grill. Cut into pieces about 2 cm thick, rub each side with olive oil and salt and grill on each side for a few minutes. Avoid overcooking to keep it nice and moist.

granitu... I also used to think that these tunnies do not taste good, but 2 years ago I went with our good friend Seafox for Plamti, and he gave me one to cook....
Wow delicious, white meat, and not dry at all.... You can cook it as you like....
Nothing comparable to kubrit/tumbrell etc.
