Hi guys...
Am I right if I say that withing the 12 nm territorial waters the VHF is not obligatory?
To my knowledge 3Nm and further VHF is obligatory.
Baghira if you intend on crossing the 3nm range then a vhf is obligatory...... PS to everyone make sure you have all up to date on board even papers and documents because those TM dinghies are trying everything to fine people. Jkollok kollox kif sippost ukoll jamlu show bik ahseb u ara ek ma jkollokx !!!!
Does this apply to all types of registration? - I know that it is the case for MFA, MFB and MFC boats but is it the same for S-registered boats?
It's an interesting question, the 3nm limit is for MFC/MFB vessels, however I am not aware of there being a rule that requires S registered vessels who are by their very nature confined to territorial waters (12nm) to have a VHF on board. The literature certainly advises it but as to weather it is obligatory........a call or email to TM is needed.
Guys all you will spend is 200 euro and it may save your life
It is just a question whether it is obligatory or not.
This was a legal question.
Thanks for your replies.
Confirmed yesterday with TM.
Not obligatory..
Obviously recommended.
