Title: Holiday fishing in Bugibba
Post by: bemmyboy on April 07, 2015, 15:09:45 CET
Hi all,
I am new here I normally fish in the uk.  My son is traveling to Bugibba on the 18th of this month for twelve days , it will be his first visit to Malta, my wife and I are visiting next year.   He is hopng to do some fishing and would appreciate any help offered, please.  He will be taking a light  telescopic spinning rod and possibly some sliding floats.  Can anyone offer any advice for fishing in the area and species and methods please.  He is hoping to experience a fishing charter boat excursion also.  Any advice gratefully appreciated, thank you.

Hi bemmyboy!
The fishing in Malta is the same as roach fishing with a 6m - 9m pole in the UK. The bait is bread paste with cheese and the catch is sea bream varieties. Fishing with a short telescopic rod and sliding floats may be disappointing. If he is stuck with it, the better option is light ledgering with 30-40g led and paternoster rig, with hook size 12 and peace of prawn.
He can fish everywhere on the shore even in the harbours.
Good luck!
