Title: Water jet
Post by: niko001 on May 30, 2015, 21:04:48 CET
I bought a new boat and had installed a hummingbird gps/fishfindeer 688CI. On my first sea trial I noticed a water jet stream whenever I am planing the boat. I think the problem is the transducer which is mounted to the left of the motor (see video). Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Is it the transducer?

Any help will be appreciated.

a transam mount nearly always makes some water jet. try to lift it just a little bit. At that speed if your with a 600w transducer, you should be seeing the bottom line, but if you reduce the water jet, it could be hard to get bottom readings. I got same problem, not so much jet, but still there is some, but like this I can read bottom at 30kts+

I was thinking of placing a stainless steel cover on top of the transducer, though not sure whether it could have an effect on the readings
