Title: Lures
Post by: benri on April 09, 2008, 08:12:57 CET
Dear All, I posted some pics in the gallery of different lures that were given to me by a friend. I have no idea for what type of fish they may be used and when and where to use them (eg close to shore, off shore, etc.) therefore I would be grateful for any information. Thanks

Hi Benri, judging only by what I can see,and assuming the first lures are all in the region of 14cm or so, it seems to me that they are handlines for alungi (and i must add it's no easy feat to land a good sized alunga on a handline) with the last photo of the actual rix type being ideal for smaller fish such as smaller tunnaggi/ lampuki. However, it is difficult to say just by looking at the photo. If you give me an indication of the size of each lure, and the approximate thickness of the line used, I will be able to tell you much better.

Thanks Jonathan. They all seem to be in that region between 12-18cm except for the 2 small ones which are about 10cm. All lines are in the 50mm to maybe 70mm region. One particular line of the rix is all in different colours for some strange reason! Any news re the book?

The Gaffer runs Dojo Peche's which are a soft jelly type lure but then different in design.
