Title: Rod for use with electric reel
Post by: benri on January 02, 2016, 07:30:08 CET
Can someone please give me their opinion what type of rod I should buy for use with an electric reel? - what poundage it should be mostly. I intend to use it in the 200 - 500m depth range. Thanks guys.

A good friend of mine uses Miya Epoch Command CX-4HP and has 3 of them. Never had any regrets, even in the region of 30-40kg  ;)

Cannot say I have alot of experience but I do no look for brands usually.

What I look for is the rod action. Personally I use weights between 1 Kgs - 1.5kgs but prefer 1Kg ones as I find they are better for bites detection.

Usually on a 1kg rod I use a 10/20 lb rod with heavier weights i use the 20/30lb rods. The rods are bent but I prefer them bent. Rod action is typically with a rod able to bend even from a mid section.
