Title: hurds bank yes or no?
Post by: fin on May 25, 2006, 21:10:51 CET
Has anyone got an info for night or day fishing off this bank? I am very interested in trying it out for whatever fish roam around that area? I hear rumours that off the bank at night there are swordfish by the plenty, how true is this?

Well this year it is definitely going to be part of the agenda, so fingers crossed for whatever bites!

Feed back anyone?

I have been to hurds bank 3 times. Twice we were on the spot at around 3.30 in the morning and did bottom fishing for 5 hours. I was not impressed. The first time we were fishing in about 60m and caught some nice weevers and the usual combers. The second time we went we caught about 6, 40 cm catsharks, but on that same day I had about 3 snaps while reeling up. that must have been the silver scabbardfish (xabla) cause i heard that they are very popular out there.

I am saying that i wasn't impressed because I had much better catches 3 miles out of the coast.

12 nm bearing 095 from m'scala?

If you have a fishfinder you will see the sea bed shallowing out to around 30m when u arrive.

Thats not a bad thing
alot of fish shelter under the tankers for example in lampuki season all we do is troll around the tankers
just think of them as big very very big fads
