I would like not to comment badly about anyone, buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
I have recently nearly!!!!! finished an apnea course,,,,,,!!!!!!!Nearly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will not mention where but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I learned a lot from it....................especially about how to make fun of pople, and put some extra money in your pockets. Although if you sent me a personal mesage I could be more clear in this regard........................... I am sure that others have also gone through my same experiance.

It seems there are mixed opinions about doing a course or not. I believe hardly anyone offers courses to teach the basics, so looks like you will have to learn from your own reading and experience, and go down with others.

A certificate doesn't mean anything, the objective of any course should be to learn the foundation and then you take it from there. More often than not the majority of certificates are not worth the paper they are printed on so I wouldn't concern yourselves with a piece of paper.

Just my two cents.

skip, i've been wondering a long time to do a course but the fact that mostly lessons are irregular, barely teaches you anything, in my 2 cents it is not worth. paying for a course and than waiting an eternity to finish it is not fair

unless he organizes himself and people get what they paid for..... it is better to train by yourself

Probably better to train yourself, I don't think the demand for these courses is enough to make it a full time thing so I am guessing they are run ad-hoc and with that comes the associated pitfalls. It would be good if someone organised that once a year an apnea course is run by a certified person/body who comes down to deliver the course.

my mob you can find it in the mobile nos topic (i sent it to you by pm and for others who wish to come for a dive call me or text me on 99593775. I go nearlly every day. I ll be happy to meet new friends.

I don thave any certificates or give any certificates but you come with me for free and I don t want money cos I am not giving any courses or certificats.

In past I enjoyed when some one took me spearfishing with him cos from that I saw how fish can be caught but unfortunitly I used to be a long time before this begins. I lost a lot of chances like big fish that Im still regretting for them. Then meet SimonG and Andrew Harvey and we start going out together making whole days of spearfishing.

Nowadays where I still im learning from others I wish thatfrom the little I know, people can come and make a nice dive together. Then we sit down relax somewhere and have a beer.

Well said Ed, I personally think that's the best kind of instruction as you are always learning off each other and those with more experience. I'm not a fan of courses unless absolutely necessary like a legal requirement.

Let's face it, driving lessons and test, don't teach you how to drive in fact new licence holders tend to be a nightmare on the road and lack the experience.

The MMA boat course is too much theory and not enough hands on practice, in fact the water practical is a joke, and it's not like with the licence you know what you're doing on the water!

What I learnt, both driving a car and handling a boat, came from learning from others and direct hands on experience with ppl guiding me.

well actually, yesterday, i was diving and could notice a lot of small groupers in some crevices....

it was nice to see that amount of groupers, but i was really pissed when i lost all the fish i caught like a 1.5kgs octopus, a 600grms sargu, 2 nice marzpal(parrot fish) and te worst of all was when i was coming back to shore and encounter in 1 metre of water a big 3kgs awrata.....

and not to mention the small dentex(probably in the 1-2 kgs) i lost when i hit the fish a little too bad and got away....

damn it...

Hi guys
It is the moment for me to add something. I have to admit that after some posts in this forum, I was contacted byt the organiser of the course, and we cleared out the issue.
Consequently the day after we suceeded to continue the course, and now one lesson remains. There were different opinions, but what is important for me is that finally we continued what we have started.
So I have to say that, if the course is finished as planned, I would recommend it to others.

Needles to say that: as others offered their help, I would take the opportunity, and learn what I can from them.

I just wished to clarify the issues a bit further, since that now things changed a bit, and I beleive that it is also fair for everyone to know.
