Title: Newbie looking for some advice
Post by: doogz on July 28, 2008, 11:37:49 CET
Morning all,

I?m new here, I?m from Glasgow in Scotland.

I just joined up this morning, as I?m going to Malta on holiday for a fortnight on Thursday morning.  Can?t wait!

Anyway my reason for joining is that I dug out my little 6ft telescopic rod yesterday when I was clearing out some of my gear, and figured I might as well stick it in my case and bring it with me. Having never been to Malta before though, I have no idea what tackle I?m likely to need, and what I?m likely to catch, if anything!

I?m not very good, my trips here usually consist of me and my bro at the pier at Greenock or somewhere hunting mackerel or salmon with some spinners or looking for trout down the coast a bit further, and as a result I?m not that knowledgeable, but I enjoy it, so if anyone can give me some pointers as to what I should be bringing with me, it?d be most appreciated.

Cheers

Douglas

Hi Doug, welcome to the forum. I'm also from God's own country, well half of me at least, the other half is Maltese, a very rare combination. As for fishing, it all depends where you're staying in Malta. Just give us an indication where you'll be staying here, and I'm sure many of us will give you some good pointers as to gear, where to go and what you might catch.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had no idea where, we're staying at my girlfriends parents apartment, so i had to ask her where it was. She says:

"qwara/bugiba (might have 2 b's)"

Hope this means something to you, as it means nothing to me! Strange place names!

So that's where we're staying, but we'll have a car for at least a few days as well, so i can travel about a bit.

Thanks

Doug
