What the hell are they doing imma? Is that just a long pole with line and a barbless hook, no bait?
yes nick thats the old way of fishing for tuna when they were abundant. They also use this for skipjack and bonito, never seen it for Albacore. Its a barbless hook on Bamboo canes and a short line.

Imma no bait Tony? Looks like they get them into a feeding frenzy with bait fish and then from instict they strike the reflective hook?
heard that for tunnagg. My uncle used it a lot. They feed blood and they come more agresive
That would make a great fishing trip! Actually it would be enough to round up a year or two!
all I can say is W O W :)
Once i saw a documentary on fishing for wahoo where a man with an old boat dragged a plastic decoy of wahoo and he just Pulled the wahoo out of the water some techique that I could t understand from the tv.
He had a pole with a hook that was fixed at the tip, and when he hooked the fish, the hook detached from the pole and he retreveid the fish with a thick line with which the hook was attached. I seemed that the way he hooked the fish was by somehow throwing this pole at the fish, but in some special technique, with which he cought a large number in a short time.
It s not the same techique shown above, but he really impressed me!!!!!!!1
incredible !!! :o we have to get those bearings bigboy ;)

Well done bigboy for finding those two videos. I heard about the pole used like that, but never on such large fish. Usually tunnag.
The second film was interesting as well. I read a lot on commercial albacore boats, and am familiar with their rigging, but never saw an actual footage of them at it. I particularly liked the way the fish are carried away to be processed down the shoot. Hey shanook, what about we do somthing like that on our boat. We can send my father in the fore cabin!!!!!
Yes, Ramio the Shoot idea is very cool ;D
mela dik jonqos ha nziedu il weight = more fuel= more money = less going out fishing = more grumbling = bad attitude = high blood pressure = stroke
my conclusion to take a shoot can cause u stroke.
