When i go off shore fishing, i use shrimps to bottom fish. When u throw them in the water the seem to reveal the hook and sometimes it gets of the hook before it had even touched the bottom. There are different types of shrimps, can anyone who tried different types tell me which types are the best?

i prefer shrimps that are abit clear in colour.... i usualy peel them off as soon as i buy them and dip them in thick salt before freezing them...dont tell me how but by doing this process the shrimp hooks itself better
would the shrimps be fresh of frozen?
i prefer using fresh shrimps(personaly speaking)
i prefer using fresh shrimps... Fresh is always fresh... and when i freeze some fresh shrimps i just freeze them as they are without peeling tham. I think it doesn't make any difference. :)
Fresh shrimps are much better.But when you freeze them and take them a couple of times they come soggy.The best is to freeze them in portions.
if you add salt or sugar they will absorb the water and avoid them getting soggy

in Italy we often use live shrimp to catch Dicentrarchus labrax (seabass) and Sparus aurata (gilthead). Just to explain better, I mean the little shrimp that you normally find in rockpools or even along the sides of jetties inside the harbour. It's quite easy to catch them: during the day in the rockpools along the shore, crack a few little snails open and throw them on the bottom (of a pool that is easy to reach with a little net). Very soon you will see them crawl out of the holes and start fighting for the bits of snail (usually blennies (bavose) tend to be a pain). Just scoop the shrimp up with a small net and put them in a bucket. Otherwise at night, with a torch light, shine it along the sides of the jetty and you will see their eyes glow. They are not fast, so again carefully catch them with a small fine net. We then usually fish with a 1 meter 0.16 fluorocarbon leader and size 16-18 hook. You gently stick it in the last segment of the tail, and they will stay alive for hours. They are a killer bait and are definetly worth the hastle. Usually, one live shrimp, one fish. We use very light 5-6 m rods with 2-4 g floats. Best used at night when other little predators are not around. Give it a try!

yea u can try rammx but are there any shrimps left along the shores??? We used to net them just by scrapping the net along the shore just before we start fishing. They were so abundant that we didnt bother catching a lot just a couple of net drags and hey presto u start fishing when u need more u just scrape again.........those were the days my friend..........
you still can catch shrimps from shore. Not quite abundant like 20 years ago but still you can catch enough to fish.
the ones I usualy catch are abit too small to use on a hook no 4. + when i catch i never manage to catch more than 15/20 i.e. only have enough to cast 5 times or so... :-\
October is the best time when you get those big shrimps for the No.4 hook
I can confirm that live shrimps are a killer bait for seabass. I usually fish them with a bombarda at night.

i use frozen shrimps. The clear ones are better than the red type. They withstand better. The red ones tend to soften more quickly.
