Habib S tfisser sports, MFC - recreational fisher, MFB - part time fisher, MFA - Fulltime fisher u Valletta hija registration compulsory ghal dghajjes ikbar min 6 metri.

ghalija 29pied huwa wisq.  Jien irridu biex nohrog ftit mal familja, biex mmur diving ma shabi u qed nerga nithajjar li nistad ftit (mhux Kummercjali).  Is-sajd qtajtu u ili wisq maqtuh allura nixtieq nerga nibda bil mod.   Ma kontx qed nara ghal xi haga ikbar minn 21pied. ghax inkella jkolli problema fejn nzomma.

1. For the Registration of a boat or ship, including pleasure boats:-
(a) where the boat has no engine (exceeding 3.6meters in length overall) ?58.23     (Lm 25)
where the boat has an engine-   
(b) not exceeding 10 HP. ?58.23     (Lm 25)
(c) exceeding 10 HP. But not exceeding 25HP. ?465.87   (Lm 200) 
(d) exceeding 25 HP. But not exceeding 50 HP. ?582.34   (Lm 250)
(e) exceeding 50 HP. But not exceeding 75 HP. ?698.81   (Lm 300)
(f) exceeding 75 HP. But not exceeding 150 HP. ?757.05   (Lm 325)
(g) exceeding 150 HP.  ?1164.69 (Lm 500)

For the purpose of this regulation 'pleasure boat' means such craft which, by the nature of their built or construction or use, are considered to be a pleasure boat by the Executive Director.
For the Initial Registration of a boat or ship other that a pleasure boat:-

 

Fishing boats registered with the Department responsible for fisheries and aquaculture  NIL 

2. For the annual renewal, or as otherwise indicated, of Registration of
any boat or ship, including pleasure boats:
(a) where the boat has no engine (exceeding 3.6 meters in length overall), every five years ?34.94   (Lm 15)
where the boat has an engine -   
(b) not exceeding 10 HP., every five years ?34.94   (Lm 15)
(c) exceeding 10 HP. But not exceeding 25 HP.  ?46.59   (Lm 20)
(d) exceeding 25 HP. But not exceeding 50 HP.  ?58.23   (Lm 25)
(e) exceeding 50 HP. But not exceeding 75 HP. ?81.53   (Lm 35)
(f) exceeding 75 HP. Buy not exceeding 150 HP. ?104.82 (Lm 45)
(g) exceeding 150 HP. ?139.76 (Lm 60)

3. For the transfer of ownership, change in details or issue of a duplicate certificate ?11.65   (Lm 5)
4. For the issue of a nautical licence to drive a speedboat ?23.29   (Lm 10)
5. For the issue of a nautical licence to act as a skiing instructor ?69.88   (Lm 30)
6. For the issue of an annual licence to operate a Water - Skiing School
or a speedboat hire outlet:-
(a) to operate water skiing and/ or paragliding ?174.70 (Lm 75)
(b) to hire mechanically driven seacraft ?174.70 (Lm 75)
(c ) to hire paddle boats, canoes and other seacraft not mechanically driven ?58.23   (Lm 25)
7. For the issue of an annual licence for the hire of a speedboat or for use of a speedboat by a water - skiing school  ?11.65   (Lm 5)

We are in the process of buying a used boat can you please tell me where we go to register the transfer of ownership of the boat please in Malta

If the boat is MFA,B or C you have to contact the fisheries which are situated

if it is S or Valletta you have to call at Transport Malta Authority Marine section.
they are situated at ex sea Malta building in Marsa.

How much does it cost to transfer a boat registered as MFC. What documents will be required? Is any of this info available online for MFC? Thanks

'S' stands for 'small' not 'sports' as defined in the Small Ships Regulations.  This is probably where some confusion lies.  Any vessel up to 24 metres in length can be registered under these Regulations.
