APNEA DIVING

HI OK I MAY SOUND A COMPLETE NUMPTY FOR ASKING THIS BUT CAN SOME ONE EXPLAIN TO ME JUST WHAT APNEA DIVING IS ??, IS IT ANY THING LIKE DIVING WITH A SNORKEL OR IS IT SOMETHING TOTALY DIFFERENT i KNOW YOU ARE PROBABLY ASKED THIS DOZENS OF TIMES BUT PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS THANKS

Apnea diving or Freediving is any of various aquatic activities that share the practice of breath-hold underwater diving. Examples include breathhold spear fishing, freedive photography, apnea competitions and, to a degree, snorkeling. The activity that garners the most public attention is competitive apnea, an extreme sport, in which competitors attempt to attain great depths, times or distances on a single breath without direct assistance of self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (scuba).

Thanks for the imformation Guys. It was the word APNEA that caught my attention, You see all my wifes family and all the girls in our family suffer from a thing called Sleep Apnea which means that they completely stop breathing when they are asleep, they have to sleep with a small alarm that gives them a mild electric shock if they dont take a breath for a set period of time. I just wish it would work on their snoring too HA HA HA  Well thanks for the info and take care of your selves NOZTHEVIKING

Hi Baghira Nope not pulling your leg or joking. One of the weirder things about the condition that really Freaks people out is the fact that when they are asleep, Wait for It ?  They sleep with their eyes wide open. You try waking up next a woman who is snoring her head off, but is lay there with her eyes wide open and not blinking. Believe me it does not do your heart a great deal of good !!!!!!!! I tell my mrs she only does it because she is that nosey she does not want to miss any thing .cos I am sure she is watching me but she insists she is not.SPOOKY EHHH

hI yes believe me I have got a full family of them but funny thing is its only the women !!! none of the men are affected by it. But my son says its a good job because it would be like the land of the living dead with Zombies all over the house HA HA HA

I'm sorry mate. But it seems you got to be used to living with this condition. You have to find ways to turn the situation, from the most weird, to joke with it. I beleive it helps to digest more reality.

HI to Baghira I know it sounds cruel to laugh about a condition like this but as an adult you have to try and make light of it for the childrens sake the worst part of it is that before we had the electronic alarms we had to take it inturns to watch over the girls to make sure they did wake up!!!!! Just to sit there and watch the little ones in their beds was all we could do Now its a differant matter. but the doctors make hugh advances in all illnesses all the time so we consider our selves really lucky to have such fantastic girls in our family AND TO TOP It all our little one she is 9 now we think she is crossed with a dolphin, by the way she swims (Last year she swam with the dolphins there in MALTA) at Christmas. BUT all this is going way off your subject of Apnea diving. I was watching some clips of one of you filming whilst diving and it was like watching a ballet under water it was that gracefull and really calming. how do you make your mind up which fish to spear with all the fish swimming round you Iwould do my head in trying to decide !!!
