Hi There , I will be leaving Malta on Tuesday for 2 weeks & will not be going fishing before I go away  :'( . I still have 2 boxes of Korean Worm (Hniex) & 1 box Amercan worm (Hniex). If anyone intrested please reply soonest to this post note first come first served ( They are free ) I live at Marsascala. It would be a waste for me to throw them away. Sorry offer for members only   ::) as they say Charity begins at home.

Shame I am not arriving until Sunday, because I am going to stay in Marsascala, but I dont think my daughter in law would appreciate several boxes of smelly ragworm hanging around the house for 5 days!

Blueskip, I do not think they would be any good by Sunday anyway as these are normally good for about a week & then they just die and as you said she will not appriciate the smell. They are normally good for a week & I had them since last Thursday allready.

In that case I'm afraid I cant help, but I'm sure somebody will want FREE BAIT! I would keep them in an aerated bucket, with a pump & an air stone, & every day drop a "cooler bag" block into the water to keep the temperature down ;) I keep ragworm for up to a month in the UK using this method, once a week I change the water for fresh that I get from the sea, its cheap enough ;D

Thanks blueskip , The problem is that I can not do none of that as I am going abroad. So it will be just a matter of leaving them in the bottom of the fridge till this afternoon & then I will go down to the harbour and see if there is any pensioners that want them. I could not believe no one claimed them ..... I said they were a freebee.

It seems that the Maltese have so much money that they can afford to refuse free bait :o now if you feel obliged to go to the tackle shop, & pay for some more, I will gladly pick it up when I arrive next Monday ;D

Sorry only there for a week, going back to "Sunny UK" on 5th Oct, I'm retired, but the wife still works, & she has to be back on 6th Oct, so that she can keep me in the style to which I have become accustomed ;D We will be back before too long though, its just a matter of paying for the flight, our son can repay the years he lived off us, by returning the compliment for a few weeks a year :o

I have given the bait to a pensioner that fishes almost every day in the Marsascala Harbour usually with bread & moulded cheese. So he is now fishing with posh bait for the next few days.

reguarding hniex tal korea (korean worms) i suggest you do the following for keeping them alive: i have tried this several times and manage to keep tham for a week and more!

what you have to do is 1. when fishing make sure you carry them in a cooler so as too keep cool and not in direct sunlight
2: if you still have worms and you want to take at home , examine all the worms and make sure there are no damaged worms.. discard all damaged ones as they will rotten up the rest 3: i suggest you also do small holes in the box on the lid as to keep some ventilation 4. wet the peat / foam or what ever you want to call it with some fresh  water, not tap water..and not even sea water! 5. put the box in the upper shelf of the fridge.. too cold will kill the worms! so upper shelf is the best, 6.do all the above daily.. and will manage to keep the worms alive for more than a wk!

or........ place them in a container designed to do the job (green with a ventilated lid...... after fishing, do all the above and wet we sea water(not drown) and leave in fridge......... most i kept them alive was 2-3 weeks in winter!
