to use LED will be needed to be on a circuit. An LED doesn t accept 12V so need some type of circuit.

You only need a resistor. To calculate the value of the resistor you need to know the Current and Voltage of the LED. Most LEDs work properly with a 1K resistor when you connect to 12V supply.

Here is how you calculate the proper value.

R=(VS-VL)/I      VS is the 12V supply of the battery, VL is the LED voltage normally 4V for white LEDS and current  20mA. So R=(12V-4V)0.02 = 400 ohm resistor.

This is an example. So calculate resistor according to your type of LED.

does the led leaves the same brightness and beam of light as  a hylogen bulb does?
as regarding battery consumption i am sure that led's r better but my concern is the lighting power ......

There are Bright LEDs which have specs or brighter than halogen.

There are some which work with 12V.

As for the beam you need to compare specs with a halogen bulb.

Or check out electonic component shops in malta like MAPP electronics, G&E etc.

I'm sure there are leds that are brighter than a halogen bulb and also the whiteness of an led is much more than a halogen one !!

Just got a head light from Petzl, the MYO XP and has an led that with 3 AA battries goes up to 150 lumens on boost mode which I can assure it's a lot of light !!!

i use a 40watt hylogen light ,and i can assure  you ,it does a lot of light , i would like to give a try to  the led .

can you tell me what is the petzl myo xp ..... pls ...

man if you want headlamps, search for brunton products.... they are the leaders. they cost a fortune sure... i have a 3 watt version and it is fantasic.. a 100m beam at full power powered by 4 batteries aa

even how the batteries packs are made and the materials, in my opinion they are  the best

What brand would you suggest and line thickness?


i heard about the red nylon line. what about it?
Is there a difference between the normal mono and this?

fava i am sure if u had to contact spitec he will guide u regarding line as well as lures rods and what have u.

For us fishing from land the line colour doesn't make much difference my friend but you need some good 0.20 line so you can cast as far as possible.
