For all those interested, we are trying to organise a tralling competition open to forum members. We are trying to gather names of those interested. Once we have the number we decide as to where and when.
Any sugestions as to rules regarding species, number of lines out etc can be posted. Sorry the link was started in maltese only, but we'll try to translate as we go along.

Isues that are open for debate regarding the competition are the following:

>Number of hand lines/ rods permited per boat
>Minimum size of fish permitted to be entered.
>Location and how far out from shore
>if to split into categories, if so what types
>to donate the catches to charitable entities
>those not having a boat can apply as crew with others
> number of persons per boat
>prises sugested 1st, 2nd,3rd and biggest fish

any other suggestion please bring forward. All interested please indicate if you are participating with your boat, if you have place for crew, or if you are looking for place as a crew.

i lie at masta and i keep my boat at mellieha so i fish mainly in those areas, but i think that the best place for the competition is near port il kbir so no one will be that far!!

if as i said the fishing ground is limited to 6km outwards from the shore and 6 laterally to the coast there is no need to for different classes of boats since the fishing ground will start from the shore.  i think everyone will agree, mine is a slow moving boat and i dont, think it will effect me!!

with regars to fish sizes i wld like you to have a look at the last pages of this link.  i think that the sizes suit us except for kahli, cervjol/accol, tonn and pixxispad. its a good thing to release any small fish.
