He must get a very limited range mela as i went looking for some 30lbs and 50lbs line a while back and didn't find.

I noticed he doesnt keep a constant stock of these kind of line ratings. He'll always have something but not consistent brand/type.

I ended up buying Momoi Diamond and the stuff is excellent. With a breaking strength of around 180 percent of line rating it's the bomb!

no man... Maxima is represented in Malta by a guy named EMMIE.

For full range of products i think you must call or check with Fieldsports (shop in Mellieha - James)

or else try Roots pet shop located in Paola.
Also chech with Fishing Frenzy and Franky pet shop (Zabbar)

Mister fish has a very limited stock of such monos which are one of the best in the market at a very reasonable price, maybe because it is not one of their products.

the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

Guys, those of you who know me, know that I always use momoi diamond.  In Tina Turner's words, its simply the best .  Had a chat with Mark of fishing frenzy, who is thinking of importing the stuff.  Until now, he imports the who Pline range of lines, mono, leader, florocarbon ect.

@Joe Gaffer

I was considering popping down to Fishing Frenzy sometime next week, as though I know it's a loooooooong 5 months to the alungi season, I am using the time available to read up & prepare my set-up for alungi this year. For the first time ever, I am going to try fluoro leaders and since u recommended Pline I'm going to try it. Should I then tie it to the lure and the swivel with d normal uni knot or do u recommend that I use some some special knot / crimping?

As for line, so far I was using normal mono which never gave me a problem. This year I bought some blue/green coloured mono which I might try on one of the rods to see whether it gives better results than the normal transparent. This might sound weird but for some reason, when I went out for lampuki this year (08), I got more hits on a rod which was set up with bluish mono than the one with transparent mono, even though the blue mono was actually a bit thicker than the transparent, and they were both running identical lures. This could be one of those inexplicable things which happen in fishing but you never know - the only way to determine is by trying.

Hi Jonathan,  You may remember that I use a 2 metre florocarbon Pline 60Lbs leader when trolling for alungi.  I attach the leader to a snap swivel using the normal uni knot.  Last year I used to camouflage the swivel using a plastic octopus lure, however, I noticed that the free lure twisted my mono, because since it is fitted onto the top of the swivel, and the lure spins, it was also spinning up my mono.  So, I will do away with the octopus lure this year.  Also, I use yellow high vis momoi diamond line, and its never affected the catch rate.  We are now familiar with the theory that Albies stay deep down and it is the vibrations of the boat, the prop wash and finally the lures that raise the fish up.  Could be that the fish are also attracted to the colour of the mono line, considering that this line is being trolled at a speed, and could maybe just be interpreted by the fish as a continious streak of baitfish!  I'm only speculating here, as I have never really determined why fish really strike one lure and not the other!.  There are countless theories out there, but none are consistant.
