I'm not a Metric man when it comes to fishing so I prefer the Imperial method of rating line, ie. in lbs! But looks like the 0.30mm is like 12lbs mono so you could put 50lbs Spectra and spool the same 195 yards!!! or instead put 20lbs Spectra and spool 390 yards or 15lbs test and get 585 yards!!

yep  , i guess im gonna do one spool with .25 mm spectra and the other one with about 0.14 or something . i have no idea how to spool a spinning reel myself though as when i bought my reel i was 15 years old and the guy at pirotta fishing centre did it for me . i stopped fishing a year later so you can see i've been away for a while since i;m not almost 20 hehe !!!

With Spectra there is a VERY important aspect which must NOT be overlooked. It needs to be packed in very tight to stop it biting down into itself. The only way of doing that is using a line winder, turning the drag on the reel to full and applying tension as you spool it. If you ever recover without a fish or without tension either re-spool with a winder or add a decent weight to the line and spool that way.

Check out powerpro.com where they have advice on using powerpro, what you should do etc

oh i hadnt realized that one. hmmm i have an idea , you know that the lines come in a sort of barrel-type container with a hole in the middle ? well i could put a wooden stick trough that and have a friend pull tightly while i wind !!! problem solved hehe

the best way i found is to un roll it all use an apropriate size weigtht (eg with 15lb spectro use a 500gr lead 100lb use 10kg -15kg lead.)and reel it in. I use to do this in st pauls bay under veccja.

Hey guys,

was wondering as this topic seems to have died away, any news on the spectra line ,  experiences since, better or worse, common problems ?

Keep on sharing

For the big game stuff Fin, most have moved away from solid core and moved to hollow core spectra. For the simple reason that you can splice mono straight up hollow core, avoiding the needs to do special knots which dont always pass through rollers etc.

Jerry Brown Line One Hollow Core Spectra seems to be dominating.
