Guys, its very important that all skippers, or thier representative attend the briefing on Wednesday 24 June at the Punch and Judy Bar in Rabat.  All competition participants are welcome to attend.  The night's event will be filmed by Mister Fisherman, and Mr. Fish has kindly donated fishing tackle, rods and reels to be raffled on the night.  So come along, attend the briefing, have a few beers and nibbles, and you could be in the chance of winning something too!!!!

Weather Warning:

There is a good chance that we will need to postpone the competition as Malta Airport is clearly showing WNW Force 4 to 5 for Sunday which will mean we'll have to resort to our backup weekend.

Even if the wind does drop a bit there's going to be a serious established swell from all this wind that's been blowing.

We'll keep the safety briefing on Wed and keep an eye on the weather.

The_Gaffer

Not so sure about the swell, since the wind will be changing direction on Friday to SSE.  However, I track 4 weather stations, Maltairport.com, windfinder, SD Weather and meteo.it.  There is a 50% chance that we'll have a fresh breeze, F4 blowing on Sunday.  Still too early in the week to make a solid forcast since the wind is changing direction and then back to NW.  Meteo.it is forcasting a F4 to F5 NW'ly wind for Sunday 5 July, which is our fallback day.  However, Monday 29 June, which is a public holiday, is looking promising with the wind veering to NE to E  F2 to F3.  I'd open this up for discussion tomorrow at the briefing.

Umm, winfinder is stating force 2-3 for Sunday till 2 pm, keep in mind all boats will be heading in at around 11 am to be at the weighing stations by noon so the Force 4 forcasted for the afternoon shouldn't be of any serious concern for now. However, as has happened many times, its best to wait for last minute changes.

Dear All,

First of all i would like to thank you for all participating in the safety brief. It is always a pleasure to see such enthusiasm in the local fishing scene. You are all a colorful and entertaining bunch.

I would also like to thank SKIP for giving me the honour to give MFF first safety brief. I hope i did nor bore you too much and hope that you found informative. I am very particular about it and through the years of experience at sea i have only learnt that preparation for anything that may crop up is half the measure complete to dealing with the scenario you may be involved in.

I am hoping that this briefing will become a standard in every fishing tournament held not only within MFF but within all our fishing mates in all other organisations within our shores.

Our biggest thank you is when all boats and crew return to their home base safe and sound with a smile that their fishing trip (fish or no fish) was a peaceful and happy one.

Tight Lines to all

and hope to see you all at sea soon
