what sort of mm line and breaking strain should i be using, i really dont know what is on the spool i am using so i can get some more and load spare spool.

I would use a good 0.30 mono or 0.20 braided.But I personally prefer mono.

Yes id say a good 0.30mm (or even 0.35mm) mono would be the best or if you prefer braid 25lb braid (which is about the equivalent of 0.12mm mono thickness) and then tie a mono leader of 0.35mm thickness the last 30-40cm should be sufficient for most situations

hi ... can you help me on how to use the halco twisty from shore .... what about the retrieve speed ?? and do you leave the metal lure to sink to the bottom and the start retrieving ?? and what about jerks ?? sorry if this is not the place to post this question but there wasnt need to start a new thread thx Matt

The Halco twist is one of the best if not the best spoon lure ever tried I prefer the 30 or 40gr for tunny species (kubrit, plamti) from shore. It should be a fast retrieve all way back with a couple of short breaks along the way. If you let it sink too much it is easy  to get stuck to the bottom, so be careful. I used to tie 2 or 3 white and red feathers to the treble hook I had good results. Best time of the year in mho is October to January.

Hi im coming to gozo at the end of the week im bringing my spinning gear and metal and hard plastic lures that i use for sea bass,is there any half decent places to go spinning for bass or some sort of tunas? i dont want to go for barracuda as they destroy nice shinny plugs,i read that you can get the odd small tuna if you spin early morning or at dusk,any pointers would be greatly appreciated cheers

Hi, I believe that at the right time of year, you can get lucky at the salt pans near Marsalforn, though I have not fished them myself, I understand you have to watch out for the commercial nets, as they are sometimes set close too shore.  Good luck and tight lines...

@scottfloyd try Imgarr harbor from those big boulders and rocks on the marina side or out side the breakwater facing south. Best to be there at early dawn or at sunset. You might be lucky, Blue runners and the odd sea bass might be around.

thanks for that cheers, ive loads of bass surface poppers and shallow runners,im bringing some maria aviva parades as the mate in the tackle shop in ireland says that the americans buy loads off him as they use them for large tuna,they upgrade the split rings and trebles obviously,thanks again
