 Hello there,
Can anyone give me his advice regarding transducers for a fish finder.
My fiberglass 19? boat is being built right now. I intend of fixing the Honda 2007 model BF 90 EFI outboard and I need to decide whether I should go for a Thru-Hull or Transom transducer.
I want to go foe a Thru-Hull because it would be fixed near the center of the boat away from propeller turbulence however I am very much affair of drilling the Hull because of weakening it. I am afraid from those high impacts on the hull especially if one is caught in a bit of rough sea.
The Transom transducer eliminates this problem but can pick up turbulence from the propeller.
Can you share with me your views and tell me what you have and how you avoided such problems.

Any advice is most welcome.

Good point, didn't think about that in terms of weakening the hull on a smaller boat. Suggest you head over to the hulltruth forum and post the question with detailed info on the boat, thickness of the bottom etc.

The guys over there are very good

If its done professionally it will not weaken your hull as it should be fixed in a way that makes it an integral part of your hull.

One suggestion I would have is that of your boat is currently under construction, take the transducer to the boat builder and he can drill the hole and fix the transucer himself for you.

I have a transom mount transducer on my boat and it works fine, especially in trolling speeds. It does get interference when I'm moving fast.
