I have to agree with skip on the fact that the Verados haven't been long enough so that we can say they are reliable. With the supercharger the engine has forced induction not natural aspiration which may result in the engine "doing more work than a 2.6l engine should". Just to give you an example, the Mariner 150 2 stroke efi was a 2.5l (V6) while the 225 2 stroke efi was a 3.0l. This means that the Verado which ranges from 200 - 350 has almost the same displacement of a 150 hp 2 stroke. Maybe getting a 250 from the displacement of a 150 may result in more wear and tear on the engine block.

To add to the E tec and Optimax - Both brands have won several times the J.D. Power  customer satisfactory award. E tec is the current holder.

2008 - http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/news/releases/pressrelease.aspx?ID=2008021

2009 - http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/news/releases/pressrelease.aspx?ID=2009023

But most of all you should see the performance and feedback of these engines personally from customers in Malta before committing yourself to a brand.

Will probably end up buying a Suzuki.  Heard a lot of positive feedback about the local agent.  Also from the 3 four stroke motors (Yamaha - Verado - Suzuki), Suzuki is the lightest and most fuel efficient.
