The competition is being sponsored by the Beuchat agents and will be conducted and judged by a team of seasoned spearfishermen.  The Sponsors want the event to be conducted in a clean and professional manner with sportsmanship as the main drive.  The Team will sanction anyone who is diving irresponsibly and will disqualify those who flaunt the rules of the competition and the laws of the country.

At the end of the competition we will have set up for you a marquee with some hot tea or coffee, snacks and refreshments.

The weighing in will take place and straight afterward the winners will be announced and prizes given out.

We hope that the event will be successful and while competition is healthy...fanaticism is terrible...lets make it a fun event for everyone... friends of participants are welcome...

I wish I could compete but I have`nt been diving regularly and dont feel that I`m physically capable. I`d like to comment on the minimum sizes especially for grouper species and dentex as I feel that these are abit too low. I would also include amberjacks in the list with a minimum weight of at least 5.5 Kgs as it`s bad enough that people still target baby AJs by trolling. Anyways enjoy the comp and prosit for the initiative.
Good morning  free diver... i do understand your concern regarding the risk of over fishing in a competition, but believe me ... from the experience i have of competitions in the last 4 years only 3 groupers were caught , 2 cawluni and maybe a total of 5 or 6 dentex altogether.
the grouper will only be allowed to catch 1 per person and it's probably the only fish that could be the winner of the biggest fish... therefore, i would not risk catching a 3.5kg grouper when i could catch a 5 or 6+kg fish... its an incentive for young divers that by catching such a fish its probably the biggest of their lives..
we spear-fishermen all have our secret grouper places... and believe me the last thing ewe want is to show it to the others ... especially when the competition will be held from shore( no boats )
the fish we are hoping to see caught are... bream.. meagres... the odd mullet, barracudas, blue runners, a j's very scarce this year so we"ll set a limit on it (eg: 3-4 fish per team) and if the conditions permits some of the athletes to dive at an elevated depth... we might see a grouper or two.... Dentex is near to impossible to catch with so many divers in vicinity.

Anyway when all is said and done I will  guarantee you that we will make our utmost to make it a fair comp. to us and also to the fish targeted..
hope to see you there if not competing come around 14:00 hrs for the weighing in..
enjoy your sports/hobbies

3/4 of all the small amberjacks are caught by spearfisherman sihbi ;)

lapsi... is there a new register that you know about which i don't?
if that's the case can you write down 6 small 1kg aj's that i caught this year( which were all eaten by me and friends)
where did you get the 3/4 from????? have you been to the pixkeria last month early in the morning??? go there once my friend and then talk to me about small aj"s and undersized fish...the most Aj"s that i have caught in a season spear_fishing is 43.... a friend of mine caught 65 of them in one day jigging and light trawling... and that's just one guy.
i know your concern BUT please do not blame only us spearos mate ;)
