Hello People...

yesterday i bought a paid of hydrofoils to be fitted on my 40hp Tohatsu, did anyone ever try a similar setup before i start drilling the cavitation plate?

Manufacturer claims a much smoother ride, getting on the plane in half the time, staying on the plane at lower speed, 20% less fuel and a an increase in speed.

I would appreciate your feedback.....

I had them installed on my 15hp Evenrude and they worked very well :)

i have installed hydrofoils about a year ago on my motor and i feel it planes better , be sure they are appropriate size for your motor and also use DUROLAC anti corrosion liquid in the holes you drill

Hi big what were the benefits  after installing them  ?

They dont cost a lot about 25euro if I'm not mistaken . Caruana Marine center was the last shop I saw them .

ggantno1 - There are hydrofoils on the market which you do not have to drill the outboard for. They fasten themselves with types of clamps etc. However they are more expensive.

Hope it helps!

I do not know cause it varies from model to model but i dont know local prices because i searched on the internet for one. I would like to attach one but will not risk drilling holes in the motor especially if there are alternatives!

This is the site that offers hydrofoils where you do not need to drill the anti cavitation plate. Read a couple of reviews where the hydeofoil simply fell off, and installing them seems to be a bit tricky too.

I think i am going to go ahead and fit the Easterner hydrofoils i purchased from Mecca.... Then will see how it all goes. So far i have not heard anyone commenting negatively so i am assuming that they are good

These Stingray hydrofoils seem interesting although I am sceptical on how they hold on tight. Reviews are not very encouraging. I was viewing the Permatrim for some time now but am not too much inclined to having to drill through the cavitation plate.
